This morning I checked the oar blocks and fit the oar locks with the inserts. Everything looked good. I snapped a picture and then asked my wife to help me flip the boat over so that I can place fillets underneath the seats. I went inside the house, had a breakfast and then mixed a bucket full of epoxy with cabosil. I also cut strips of fiberglass that I will lay over the fillets and later glass the whole thing over. When I got outside I froze in my tracks. 2 of the 4 oar blocks fell off. Apparently the epoxy had not cured enough and gravity did the rest. I hurried back for all the clamps and pasted some of my epoxy on the oar blocks and then clamped the 2 and the 2 remaining back onto the boat.

Then I started filleting the underside of the seats. It is quite messy and I am glad it won’t be seen to the naked eye. Then I layed strips of fiberglass over the fillets. Later I will cut the fiberglass flush and pin it to the boat with thumb tacks. Then I will mix epoxy and wet the tape thoroughly. I don’t know exactly when I will do that as the oar blocks gave me quite a scare today. I might wait a few days before I touch the seats. Incidentaly when I was filleting, one of the seats moved slightly, indicating the epoxy on the seats isn’t fully cured yet. I’m sure the cold weather isn’t helping.

I might leave the boat as it is now and perhaps work on touchups to the outside paint job. Also some work needs to be done to attach leathers onto the oars.
