Here's another idea for an inlay. This is a cheap placemat that I bought at a garage sale (2 for a dollar). It's made of bamboo or some kind of wood, I don't really know, but covered (two coats) with epoxy it became quite stiff and again not really that heavy. This picture doesn't do this material justice. It's actually very colorful. By cutting a design of some sort into the deck of a kayak, I think I could just duplicate the pattern onto this epoxy covered placemat and glue it in place with some colored thickened epoxy. Does this sound like a valid idea or am I just flirting with disaster?
