Just finished the cockpit recess on this Guillemot S&G model. It went well using a Roto-zip to cut out the recess area, although I don't think I would recommend using a Roto-zip on a real kayak (too squirly). The blue masking tape is protecting the carbon covered hull from glue and scratches. I'm thinking of using carbon fiber for the combing to match the hull. I really enjoy building these models, mostly because of the busy lifestyle I live, I can take them with me where ever I go. I have had to give some away as birthday/Christmas gifts in order to justify building another, I've also been offered larger than expected sums of money to build model sized kayaks, but to this day, have turned down all offers. I guess I'm not the only one decorating their homes in kayaks.
