: This deck is 100% poplar. The boards had green shades to them, but those
: areas turned brown to grey over the season before I ripped them. Some of
: the boards were very light in color. The weight is moderate. No worse than
: the pines I've used, but certainly not as light as cedar. The wood works
: like a dream. Easily planed, sanded, cut, etc. As you can see, it bends
: pretty well. I did all this with no steam, heat or staples. Never had a
: split or run-out problem. It is very easy to find knot free boards too (a
: very attractive trait in my book). Has kind of a musty smell when it's
: cut. I'll be using more of this in the future.
: BTW: This Sea Spirit currently has no cockpit. Might leave it that way to see
: how well Shawn can "Rodeo" paddle it :-)
