Hi Patsy, use plastic packing tape like Myrl suggests. Get the higher priced stuff; it's thicker/less prone to tear and has a lower frustration factor. Tape plastic cling wrap anywhere you don't want glue.

The scarf won't be invisible but it won't be objectionable either; just do the cleanest job you can and keep moving. You're doing a S&G canoe right? That's going to be very cool.
