Good old GR. made a good case for thinner wood and more glass. I don't have the charts in front of me but I think the issue was that a slightly higher ratio of glass to wood was "stronger" than thicker wood and less glass. For s&g given sufficient glass I think the only negative is that for large panels there's more of a chance for panels to have waves in them with a chance of damaging long floppy panels during construction. I'd be tempted to glass the interior sections of the panels with 4oz before assembly then glass with double layers of 4oz or 6oz where necessary. Guess it would depend on the size of the panels whether anything else was needed,,if the double was a four-panel boat then a lot of glass would be needed anyway since the panels are kind of wide, maybe glass both sides with 4oz before assembly? What's the design?
