The backing plate didn’t come with the foot pegs. The cost of the foot pegs alone was $60.00. I bought them from SealLine http://www.paddlers.com/4sealline/sealline_smarttrack.asp , the vertical adjustment kit was an additional $30.00. I do not use a rudder, and didn’t investigate how to make provisions for installing the pedals at a later date. I suppose you would have to allow space above the foot pegs for installing the pedals.

I didn’t use anchor bolts, as I wouldn’t be able to reach the aft one from the coaming. My coaming opening will be small. The plastic foot peg housing has a pilot hole pre drilled to accept 1/4-inch wood screws. If the foot pegs ever need replacing, I can do it easily by using the wood screw. If you could reach the anchor bolts through the coaming, I see no reason why they wouldn’t work.
