skid strip: anyone try truck-bed liner?

I am getting closer to finishing two S&G's, and decided to try some of the DIY polyurethane truck-bed liner as a skid-strip. Supposedly "cut-proof, abrasion resistant, etc. etc.". Intend to mask off the area and spray it on. Anyone tried this before? Otherwise, I really like the dynel cord approach. Groove-ee idea.
