I put the wood screws through the skin. It’s possible to make a removable mounting plate in which the screws wouldn’t have to come through the skin. Screws through the skin don’t bother me.

: if you have a set of keepers or yakima in your other boats or know them well,

I have used both Keepers and Yakima foot braces and prefer Yakima. Both are difficult for me to reach and adjust. The SealLine braces appear to be made very well. They are certainly easy to adjust, even while sitting in the cockpit. This feature is why I am using them. How well they will hold up, only time will tell, as I have not used them yet.
