I've been marking my pump shafts at 1/2, 1/4, and 1/8 stroke
and have used this for over ten years without a problem.

I've been suggesting this in my plans for ten years.

I always assume there will be air at the top of the pump column
so I start each pump with a short slow stroke to expel any air.

I've used a lot of different pumps, each time I get it I measure the stroke,
divide it up, mark it with a pen then cut a very small notch in the plastic
since the pen mark will disapear.

It has worked CONSISTENTLY for me. I waste very little resin.
