The thin strips you see in the deck plank pattern are 1/8th wide Western Red Cedar. I think they may have caused a problem I had but I’m not sure. After I glassed the deck with 6 oz glass I set the deck aside for a few days until I was ready to mate the deck and hull. I didn’t put any spreader strips inside of the deck to help keep it sized. The deck curled up quite a bit and was about a foot narrower then the hull when I started to put them together. It took so much pressure to spread the deck that it buckled in several places, and always at the 1/8th inch strip areas. This ended up being a night mare and took a long time to fix, including sanding off much of the deck glass and fairing the deck all over again. Also putting 3 layers of 6 oz glass under the deck plank pattern and two layers on top for strength to keep it from buckling again.
