The guide that i bought was a Delta precision guide. i like it because it will retro to any table saw. i did have to put two holes in the front edgae to fit my bench but well worth the time. I to have the iron extensions but have replaced mine with a formica topped mobile bench with tool storage and solid curly maple drawers. My wife refers to it as the million dollar box. The best thing that I ever did for it was the fence. i can not say enough good about it, ten fingers worth of good.

The other thing to do is to make sure that the table top is still flat. The next is to make sure that it is clean, if not sand it. Then and right then cover it with a product called "T9" it is made by boeing aircraft corp. It lubes on short applications and if left to dry then buffed it will form a protective teflon coating that will really help things move easily.

The after market fences will assure you 90 degees. If your fence leans out your wood will wander slop back and forth and then kick out. If it leans into the blade it will bind the backside of the blade and kick out. I was hurt quite bad by the old fence, remain humbled to this day about the saw.

The big thing to do on the old Craftsman saw with the new fence is align the fence perfectly with the miter track, then losen the four bolts under the saw in each corner. your model may have six with the last two in the front and rear center. With these loose now align the blade perfectly with the fence. assuming that the spindle is not bent or the bearing are not bad you will have great smooth cuts every time without any burn on most wood. I use the CMT thin kerf general blade. I am still amased how good it is at everything I throw at it.
