: Erich,
: Most builders tend not to put too much hardware on their wood boats as it
: detracts from the beauty and it also adds work to drill holes and seal all
: of them with epoxy. Be very sure to seal all the holes as water will find
: exposed wood.
: I use simple plastic pad eyes for any deck straps. For shock cord cargo
: straps, simply attach with plastic hooks on ends of cords. For safety
: lines, you could use the same methods. Whatever you attach, make it simple
: to remove for future re-varnishing. It is a lot easier to have a clean
: deck to sand and varnish, than having to apply varnish around hardware.
Rod, I was looking at epoxying wooden hardware on the hull. I can't bring myself to drill holes in this deck. I was looking at raised ash and walnut blocks with holes for the lines and bungies. The deck lines will be dyed to match the hull and designs. Tan for the front deck and brown for the rear. Regards Erich.
