Paul,
Now there is an uncanny synchronicity...
Funny you should mention it...... My boat just survived its first protest march....

After a long winter. I decided to take my self out for a test ride see how things had healed up. Loaded my boats up and a friend and headed out to the Gulf of Maine to do a series of day trips.

Every thing showed up rightous. My newly knitted trapesious muscle held together in 25 knots winds, small craft warnings and some pretty good boundy maine, and it was all kind of salty get yourself wet wonderful! Lots of wildlife. My own personal ice out if ya will.

So the funny thing is between put ins we are traveling through Portland and my buddy and I are traveling up route one, decide to pop up a one way street to find some grub before continuing north. Well about 3 blocks in coming up the street we find a huge commotion.... We are face into a peace protest march going the opposite way as the one way street. Whole bunch of the local college students, bout 200 of 'em, banging on 5 gallon buckets and steel coffee cans chanted slogans, passing out literature.

Well the F-350 with the yaks on top wasn't going to back through town nor were the cars behind me going to wind and twist. However, the yaks were taller then the kids banners...

So we drove down the middle of the protest march the young idealists lifting their banners over the yaks. Some stepping on their bucket drums to get the banners on sticks up and over the yaks. Meanwhile others were stuffing diatribes in the windows etc.

I managed to surpress my own political commentary, and experiences deciding to enjoy the humor of the moment. And hoping in the end all their dreams someday come true. It was a very funny moment. Democracy is a glorious thing.
