It sounds like the 5 oz. is the answer to everyone's prayers (at least for a typical non-expedition boat) and should yield the strongest layup with the least weight. A recent poster used it successfully (can't remember who it was). I'm planning to go this route. Light boats are much more fun, imo. The previous solution, two layers of 3.2, was much more work, but yielded a light, strong composite. 5 oz. saves you an entire layer application and is supposed to be stronger than 6 oz. Tell us what you decide, OK?
