Just a reminder for any builders or persons interested in seeing home built wooden Kayaks/Canoes, Southwind Kayak Center in Irvine Calif. is holding their Spring Boat Builders event Sat. morning the 27th of April (that this coming Sat.) Keith Davis a local builder will be bringing his two Laughing Loon Designed boats a Panache and a Georgian Bay with a modified large open cockpit. He has won several awards with the Georgian Bay in various State Fair woodworking shows over the past couple of years. I will be bringing along the Arica's Silver Project, though its far from being finished it is transportable and I'm also trying to arrange to have the Reliance Double I built last year at the event. I've heard from the CLC Liscenced builder in the San Diego area Kurt Weisbore and he was saying he would like to attend but have not gotten an actual confirmation that he will be attending. I saw several of his clc boats last fall at a clc demo day and they looked great. He uses automotive paints and clear coats to finish his boats, very interesting! There are uaually several other S&G and strip kayaks that show up for this event. It would sure be great to get a large turn-out for this event. The Newport Back Bay is just a very short hop away and makes for a fun afternoon paddle and there are several great eating places to go to for a quick bit to eat Taco Mesa quickly comes to mind. So if you are with in easy driving distance to Irvine and have a home built Kayak/Canoe/Small Watercraft or are just interested in seeing what others have built or are building please come to the event.
