Yes, it's for the canoe. I think the worst thing that could happen is taking off too much at the point and mucking up the nice line on the outside where the panels come together. The inside will be covered with the fillet. But I think - no, I know - I'm worrying too much about this, as with everything.

Thanks to you all once again. I don't need no steenking special tools. Just me and my handy dandy cheap Stanley block plane. You should see the pretty Greenland paddle I made this weekend with it at the East Coast Canoe & Kayak Festival!
