I heard about an interesting S&G trick recently

This is how it was described on rec.boats.building, IIRC:

- Instead of beveling the edges, leave them square.

- Where your stitches are, insert a short section of dowel under the wire before you tighten it. It will hold the panels in the proper relationship to each other, giving you an even joint.

- Tab glue the seam(s)

- Once the tabs cure, remove the dowels and wires, then fillet the inside.

- Fill the gap on the outside

I assume that the dowel diameter should be equal to, or slightly greather than the thickness of the plywood. I believe that this was done on the inside of the seam, but I can see where it might work as well or better on the outside in some places.If you have some scrap ply around, you might want to play with this idea. If it works, it sounds like a simple way to get an even seam.
