: I have seen a few instances where the builder chose not to bevel the inside
: edge of the panel and just stitched them together with the inside edges
: touching. It made for an interesting AND attractive look with the
: epoxy/wood flour fillets on the outside creating a dark pinstripe between
: the panels.

i guess from all these posts, that some have sharp edges and some rounded.
the rounded types that just sand into the ply, probably look quite crude as you could accidentally go thru the face veneer, but playing w/ the open edges would allow for some fooling around, espec using the dowel in or out alignment approach.

what if one stayed absolutely true to approach and used say long lenghts of wire that use an inlock stitch at ea set of holes, tighten onthe i/s where not seen, run the wire exposed in the crack and express the stitch, but say every 3 in instead of the usual 4 or 6. May be a little heavy, but might look cool, and get the rounded edge too.

or what if heavy nylon line, but use dowels on the inside but use dowel wedges instead of constant so you can diffentially clamp at each stitch. still get the real stitch look, but rounded edges.

or what abut some kind of spiral decorative string, or what about that thin banding you use around the edges of acoustick guitars? or thin wedges of mahog, jam in and sand after to round.

one of the drawbacks of s&gs(espec really curvaceous short ones) is that the flat typical plywood grain does is not so linear, this may be some way to force movement in the eye to make up for it.

and for a really really stupid idea, what about taking one of our strips say 3/8in wide, w/ a bits of 3/4dowel glued under every 6in or so and then youe'd have intentional wood aligned stitched in banding between panels. decorative strips anyone?? in a s&g??

anyway, ideas
