Paul, I didn't like the sharp edge on the Pygmy coamings either. I rounded them over by sanding them, which worked fine. I did it after putting the fiberglass on, but you could probably do it before glassing.

If you don't want the coaming to be so thin (I didn't, because I my tie down points for my straps sometimes end up across the coamings, especially on my Osprey double), you can get a second top coaming piece from Pygmy for about $10. I laminated two together and rounded the coaming with sandpaper. With the double thickness, I probably could have used my router with a shallow roundover bit, especially if I had gone ahead and glued it on the to kayak first (via gluing it to the lower coaming).
