Sounds like DeWalt and Bosch use the same material. I have to replace the backing pad about every two boats and half dozen paddles. This last time, Home Depot was sold out of the medium pads, so I had to get the soft. I feel much better after reading the earlier post recommending the soft pad. The soft pad does seem to work better on the curved surfaces than the medium.
