: John, you're making a good point about the Hook & loop paper and pad. I
: wore through two H & L surfaces on my DeWalt. I complained to DeWalt
: and they sent me two free pads. However the rep asked what I was sanding.
: When I mentioned glass epoxy and glass. He told me never sand glass with a
: hook and loop. The glass particles will cut the loops and hooks to ribbons
: in a microscope view and will make it useless. That's what happened to me.

: One of the advantages of H & L is it disapates heat, whereas the stick
: on's will heat up carpenters glue and get gummy. Almnost all pro
: woodworking shops use stick-ons for the reasons you mention.

My hook and loop sand paper were tearing the hooks or loops, which ever is on the sandpaper disc, after about 20 minutes of hard sanding and they would go spinning off like a frisby. The sanding surface was still in good shape and this was getting expensive.
