Hi Gregory,

I worried about how many coats it was going to take filling the weave on my first time epoxying fiberglass on my boat. Reading the board it seemed it was taking me more coats then others. Here’s the way it went for me. I rolled on a first pre-coat on the strips. Then I draped 6 oz. glass over the hull and rolled on a coat. I thought it really looked good. I tried to squeegee off any excess but there wasn’t enough to mess with. Then the problems started, I thought. I squeegeed on coat after coat and had a hard time filling up the weave. Finally I had area’s of small patches of weave that wasn’t filled that I went over with epoxy. Then I was down to pin holes I was filling after sanding. I don’t know if I was doing something wrong but I got the impression that others on the board didn’t have to put on as many coats of epoxy as I did. I am guessing I should have put the rest of the coats on with a roller or foam brush and then went over with the squeegee.
