Yer a right bonzer sheila to strike out beyond the black stump! (Sorry, I lived a year in Perth, travelled the outback some years ago and never got over it.)
My best advice it to NOT use Jarra for strips. As a joke, at a barbie just after arriving in OZ someone asked me to "just grab that picnic table and bring it up to this end of the garden". Being used to picnic tables made of pine, spruce or cedar, I just about hurt myself trying to pick it up.

S&G would be the easiest method. I would think good plywood would be easier, (and cheaper), then cedar strips.
