Okay, you strip-building experts, it's all your fault.

I've lurked (and sometimes chimmed in) on this forum for a couple-three years. I've built three S&Gs from kits. You (and you know who you are!!!) are finally getting me hooked on the idea of a strip-built. I've got Nick's book, I'm educating myself, I'm planning ahead. I've always thought I'd never find the time until I retire, but I'm beginning to doubt that I can wait that long.

Meanwhile, I promised to build someone else an Osprey Standard this spring/summer. She knows that's the model she wants (she has test paddled it). Although I've found some seemingly comparable strip models (Georgian Bay and Spring Run, for example), it needs to be an S&G for me to get it done in time for her to get good use out of it this summer. So I've been thinking of a hybrid (but not the Merganser, because of its greenland style hull).

Hence, my question: would it be feasible to strip the deck of an Osprey Std? Would it be reasonable to do that as a first stripping project? The obvious first problem is that I would have to somehow self-design the forms. How hard would that be? What design pitfalls might I face? Any other comments on where the project might prove more challenging or risky than starting with a set of plans for a strip-built?

It may just be that I'll have to go for a full S&G. But before I give up on the idea of a self-designed Osprey Std hybrid, I thought I'd pick your collective brains, because they are such good ones.
