Yes,I'm familiar with the handbook.
I also want to apologize if I've come off as a hardwood snob- I probably should have said 'high strength wood' instead of hardwood. As you pointed out earlier, there are plenty of strong softwoods (Port Orford, SY Pine, D fir, Sitka Sp) and several weak hardwoods (Tulip poplar is the one I'm most familiar with).
When I compare a thin strip of tulip with a thin strip of B locust or osage, I feel like I'm dealing with different materials. Like comparing B locust to aluminum, almost.
I took another look at your destructive test today. Very interesting. I was really surprised at the suggested contribution by the core. Really came through the test data. As you ran the test, what were your impressions regarding delamination? Any clear trends?
