Went out and bought a brush but forgot it before going to the shop (which is about 30 miles away). I improvised by using a crumpled up plastic bag and it worked great. The glass smoothed out nicely. The saturation coat was a slight bit tacky when I draped the glass over it (if I pressed the cloth onto the hull with some pressure it would hold a little bit).

I'm pretty new to boat building and this is my first one. If you're interested I'm keeping a journal of my progress at the link below.
