In my work place we were required to wear safety glasses, and still now and then we would get wood splinters in our eyes. I think safety glass saved my eyes more then once though. Usually from something unexpected. Once while drilling on a drill press that had an unusually heavy spring uplift, the drill handle slipped out of my hand and the handle flipped up really hard and hit my safety glasses with a jar. Without the glasses I think I could have had real damage in my good eye. So wear safety glasses and be safe.
