I usually recommend that you hold the jigsaw as vertical as possible and then rasp and sand the edge afterwards. You need to make sure your blade is long enough to accomplish this as you don't want the blade jumping out as it will inevitably jump and cut into your deck. If you are worried about scratching deck surface with edge of jigsaw face, tape a piece of cardboard onto it so it does not damage your deck.
