Other: Roof rack dangers?

Has anyone had or heard of problems carrying a wooden boat on top of a pickup using a crossbar on the cab and one over the bed?

I have been warned that because the cab and bed are able to roll independently of one another and in opposite directions there could be a dangerous torquing or twisting moment imposed on the boat.

Also I`m interesed in opinions on J Cradles vs rollers saddles and the like. Thanks.
