I have been using the cross bar on the cab and a piece that mounts in the trailer hitch and sticks up to the same height as the cab bar with a cross piece it is listed as a carrier for canoes. The nice part is that the top of the canoe carrier will rotate for ease of loading and may help with any flex of the truck body. The only draw back is that there is bolt right in the middle of the bar that I have to cover so that the kayak does not get damaged.
