Paddle: Drip rings?

Hi,
I just finished a 13' Rob Roy and have a double paddle, but none of those fancy gadgets that keep me from getting really wet from water running down the paddle shaft and dripping right in my lap. I would call them "drip rings", but I really don't know what they are called.
Can you buy them to snap around a wood paddle? If not, does anyone know of a good shape to make them and bond them onto the paddle? I was thinking of making a sort of square edge that the water would tend to drip from. Maybe two half moon pieces of wood bonded to the paddle shaft down by the blade?
Suggestions?
Thanks,
Stephan
