Assume your mention of the butt joints is the glassed panel joints. Only thing I can suggest is that perhaps the alignment along the wired seam is off - maybe the panel edges aren't meeting evenly. If so, have seen many (including CLC) that suggest putting a slight champher along the length of the panels. This provides a bit more surface area to keep them from slipping out of alignment. I did this on my second boat, and it seemed to work well.
