I just received a new Highland Hardware catalogue. Gransfors Bruks, who makes excellent axes also makes a froe (and wedges) see http://www.tools-for-woodworking.com/product.asp?3=1069. The size of the stock you wish to split will determine the blade length (those that I have seen range from 6" to over 14") and the length and diameter of the handle.
