HI folks....

I heard that the coast guard was a no-show up at Port Townsend for the R2K2 event. I'm sure it was a Disappointment to say the least. Well, I did some checking in with friends as their son is in the Coast Guard up on Washington. He reported back that there was a bit of a tragedy with the Helo/crew that was supposed to do the demo for you folks. I couldn't get the whole story out of him but from the way he talked I got the impression that they lost a man in a terrible accident.

Although he was not able to tell me the whole story, he did slip me this Address and from it I was able to pick up a few details and a picture.

It seems they were working on a joint effort with other crews on low altitude drops and pickups and in the process attracted some unwanted attention. It seems they lost a man in one attempted rescue, but were able to pick up the other and get safely away from the situation.

I understand that they will offer an official appology and make every effort to attend next years event. Bravo!!
