There was a similar thread about 19 August, "splitting headache".
I suggested a portable chain saw mill. Description of how to make a big one is here:

and commercial versions that are smaller are also available for about $150.
I have not tried this, but am interested in the results. Still too hot here in Ohio to be rolling logs around. I may try to build one of these next month when it starts cooling off.
