Missed you (and cookies) at R2K2 this year!
The coaming was laminated with 1/16" pieces so no steam bending was needed.
The oil slowly works it's way back to the freshly cut surface so I made it a point to clean the surface just prior to glueup.
I would bet that the oil, being pretty thin when heated (after steaming), would tend to work it's way back to the surface quicker.
