My Morris greenland is coming along nicely thanks to advice from this board . The spruce ribs will do for this boat but after bending hickory for the coaming rim and lip,( really easy) I'll use bending friendly wood for the ribs next time...
I'm using canvas for the skin and I have some questions,
Sewing the seam works well midships but as I get to the stems I'm not sure if the canvas will form around without big folds?
If it does ?? Can I slit the canvas on the bottom of the stem, wrap it around and maybe put a thin rub strip over it ?
Morris "s book calls for wetting nylon skin, do you do the same for canvas?
I plan to use Marine enamel to seal the boat, Will the paint make the skin stick to the Gunnels ,keel and stringers?
Thanks for all the advice. Terry
BTW lashing went well, once I put the string into a plastic baggie and pulled it out as I went along using both hands to tighen the lashing.
