I was at Lowes last night and stopped to look at the elastomeric roofing paint products. Of course Snow Coat is not to be found in Texas, and I've been wondering about the products that are to be had around here. Lowes had Kool-Kote, with its summertime heat-reflective qualities toted. I'm guessing it's the same essential product repackaged to make more sense in the blistering Southwest.

1 gallon was ~$15.

The fun thing was that they had a sample of the product. It was a rectangle of what felt like tough, pliable rubber. It bent, it stretched some too, and although I didn't fully abuse the store display, it seemed to resist tearing very well. Strikes me as a terrific material.

Question: Can this stuff take pigments added for color? If so, how dark can you go? I sure wouldn't want to have a cute pastel adorning my deck.
