Strip: Outer Island Stem Question

Hey, all. I've got all my forms set (I think a couple need some tweaking, though), with the exception of the stern and bow. I'm confused on the tapering of the internal stem pieces.

From the perspective of the boat floating in the water, where does the 3/4" to 1/8" taper begin and end?

Is it 3/4 at the very tip (up by the grab loop) down to 1/8 by the time it hits the water line? Or, 3/4 from tip to water line then 1/8 beyond that? Or, do I have the 3/4 and 1/8 reversed, or what???????
