I fiberglassed my entire kayak with that process. I started to do it the (correct) way that I read about, but when I found that I could wet the surface first and then lay up the glass, I don't do it any other way. I have more control.
I usually wet the surface and then walk away for about 10 minutes, when I use the 25 minute setting resin. I found that when I do this, there is even more control over the glass.
