This was my thinking as well. I believe that a coroplast boat may be doable, but I wanted something that worked for sure as my first boat.

Somewhere in my searching I recall seeing the 3M tape sold per roll (rather than the more common per case!) for about $30 for 30 yards (I think). That should be enough to build a boat. I know that the location of the business is in Fort Worth, TX - my home town. Let me know if you want me to find the link (I think it's at work).

Also, I was thinking that the cable ties would stay in the boat as a way to ensure that the seam held, with the tape providing more of a water sealing role than a "hold it together" role. Silicone sealant might also be used as a back up to keep the water out.
