Thanks for the advice. Being a first time boat builder, I'm having a little trouble figuring out how to define "fine" versus "not acceptable". That's the crux of my delima - do I need to fix it, or am I spending time on it needlessly. Hindsight will reveal the answer, I'm sure! FWIW, I'll add a little about "where" and "how" it's slightly off. That may be of some additional help in answering the question.

The few forms were nudged out of alignment when screwing them into the bases. On the rocker alignment, one measurement may align with the string dead center, the next form's rocker measurement may align with the top or bottom of the string. None are off by more than the width of the string.

On the centerline alignment, one form may align with the string dead center, then one form may align with it touching the left or right of the string. Again, none are off by more than the width of the string.

My horizontal alignment is as good as I can get. The bubble on my level isn't so accurate that I can be as precise, so I'm relying somewhat on the fact that if my centerline looks acceptable, and the waterline lines on the forms are lining up resonably acceptable, then I'm fine.

But, when I look down the sides to see if my waterline lines are lining up, a few are high or low by a bit (can't really measure by "how much" though). The problem can't be in the lofting process, since Jay's OI comes with full size drawings, and therefore no lofting is required.

Am I spitting in the wind thinking I should unattach a form and adjust it by the width of the string to bring the waterline into line?

I've used a "T" style strongback, with bases and the forms screwed to the bases. I've not got anywhere to "shim". I assume that suggestion was for the style strongback where a 2x4 (or something similar) is run through the center of the forms.

Anyway, I'm rambling. Back to work........

Thanks again.
