: after the first layer is placed, how do you lay down the 2nd? several pple or
: holders and then lay in ctr(if hull) and work(lay down) toward the ends
: and sheer?? any other tips?
: what abt timing? do you squeegee only after 2nd layer down. do you lay the
: first resin down w/ a roller for evenneess, quickly squeegy then the 2nd?
First trim the cloth as per spec
you'll want to fold the cloth in such a way that it can be unfolded in place, kinda like flaking a sail
I use a squeege for inital spreading of epoxy pretty much everywhere.
I then go after any non-wet out spots with a roller, and anywhere that it looks like it will start to run. but not tool much time either, it'll just be wasted.
then I usually take a short break (bathroom, coffee, gloves, what have you)
I make sure that I am wearing dry gloves when handling dry glass. one touch of sticky gloves to the cut edge of the glass and you will get glass fibers everywhere.
place the cloth on the wet glass and unfold. Note that you will not be able to remove wrinkels by smoothing, you will need to lift and pull. On the plus side once the cloth is on the surface, it won't go anywhere by itself
once you get the the far end of the boat, you should notice that the glass has wicked the epoxy through the first layer and mostly wet itself out, run the squeegee to help it along.
use the roller to add a little epoxy to any glass that needs it. you'll find that you need much less then when wetting out the first layer, so be sparing at first.
use a roller to clean up on the runs and you should be home free.
