Ok - so you aren't as excited as I am. I don't blame you. BUT... I could hardly be happier with my self and what I've made...
Following (loosely) the information found in a PDF file called "Making a West Greenland Paddle by Chuck Holst" I have in deed made a beautiful Greenland Paddle. the best I've ever seen, out of a pool of one so far! LOL
Since I've never made anything out of wood before (except maybe a fire!) I figured I'd just use an 88 cent utility grade spruce 2x4 in case I screwed up, or gave up. (BTW - that's 88 cents CANADIAN. ~55 cents US LOL).
Turns out I didn't waste my weekend watching TV... I actually built something... and still have all my fingers.
Now if Christmas would just get here so I can get the books I've asked for... I'll start building boats!
One thing I've learned... the best wood-working tool I own is my angle grinder. I did not know that you could get wood working (flap-sander) disks for angle grinders. Turns out they seem to have been designed with GP making in mind... they make easy work of compound-angle bezel cuts!
If I can borrow a digital camera from work I'll post a picture or two!
