On the deck of my Shooting Star I used 7/8" strips of WRC alternating with 1/4" wide sitka spruce. As long as the curvature isn't a problem, it's an aesthetic choice.

It wasn't until I got my lumber home and started ripping stips that I noticed one WRC board was thicker than the others. It also turned out to be the darkest of the batch, and so found its way onto the deck. I used the other 3/4" WRC strips for the hull.
