I used the Morris book alone. It's a great set of instructions. I read it from the beginning to the end of the West Greenland kayak... Then I started. I was able to read one instruction at a time as I continued through the process. Several steps that were not clear on first reading made great sense as I got to the point I needed the information.
As recently discussed on the Fora, the Morris method for rib length leaves much to be desired. Read the recent posts about several other methods to get the right length.
I have attached the link to my building journal, a first time attempt. There are also a number of other building journals here on KayakWiki .
I later made a Morris inspired Canadian Canoe. His instructions for that project in the book are much abbreviated. He states that one should make a West Greenland Kayak before attempting any of the other projects. I would recommend such a practice as well. It is not just by reading that you learn the Morris method, it is by building the kayak.
If you enter the project, feel free to post questions here or to email me directly. I will do what I can to help. (Oh, and have lots of fun.)
