Wayne,
A sling can still be easily attached when you cut open the coaming area. By forcing a corner of the sling under the gunwales, you will be able to pull it through. ( That's how I did my FAP-15). The lacing can then be used to secure it with the bottom of the sling positioned near the keel. Coating both sides of the sling will make it easier to push under the gunwales. The side supports can be added now or after the skin is removed.
I don't recommend placing a seat directly on the skin/stringers due to stress on the widely spaced chines/cross sections of the "snap" together FAP-15 frame.
It's good to see that your folder is nearly completed. Success is intoxicating !
