Rick,
I didn't have a lot of neat wood, just red cedar and some pine and mahagony from the local lumber yard. I liked the asymetric look. Thin dark strip is 1/4" wide mahagony quartersawn , then 3/8" pine , then 2, 1/4" strips of mahagony again, but glued with the flatsawn side to the face. The flatsawn mahagony has a speckled fleck to it. The rest was just filling in the curves. FWIW!
