Just a thought FWIW: There may be some advantage in thinking about visibility of your boat out on the water. Personally, my paddling is on the Lake Michigan shoreline where boat and PWC traffic can be a factor. I made my hull bottom light white cedar, with a fair amount of the same in my deck design to make sure that I show up in the minds of the go-fast pilots out there--especially if I happen to be inverted!
